Timing belts drive the camshaft from the crankshaft to control the opening and closing of your Ford Fiesta engine valves. Like all rubber products, they deteriorate over time, regardless of the mileage. So check the users manual of your Ford Fiesta for the recommended change intervals. A snapped belt will most likely result in the need to replace the engine in your Ford Fiesta.

*On some vehicles the water pump is driven by the timing belt. Should this be the case, it is best to replace the water pump as part of the project. The cost and the time element of replacing the timing belt will need to be repeated should the water pump fail later.
